Toyota announced plans to release upgraded electric vehicles with a substantially greater range of approximately 500 miles on a single charge in 2026. During a recent launch event for its new Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) factory.
Toyota upgraded Electric Vehicles
Toyota also highlighted battery technology breakthroughs, enhanced aerodynamics, and more efficient production processes as part of its aim to boost electric car sales in the next generation of electric models.
The BEV facility is completely dedicated to electric vehicles, and manufacture of these new electric vehicles will begin in 2026.
Lithium-ion Battery
Toyota revealed four new batteries, the first of which was the Performance lithium-ion battery.
When paired with enhanced aerodynamics and decreased weight, it will power the future electric vehicles in 2026, delivering an astounding range of over 500 miles.
These vehicles are intended to be 20% less expensive than Toyota’s first electric model and to enable fast charging, with a charge time of 20 minutes.
Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery
The Popularisation Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, the second battery, is scheduled for commercialization in 2026 or 2027.
This battery is designed to be cost-effective, boosting range by 20% (approximately 375 miles) while lowering expenses by 40% when compared to the bZ4X variant.
