The new 2023 Prius has been revealed by Toyota as the first pictures and information on the Japan-spec model have come.
Although the teardrop shape makes it easily recognizable as a Prius, the lower stance, much slimmer side profile, and unique-looking headlights and taillights elevate it to a whole new level of design.
Toyota claims that the redesigned hybrid system in the new fifth-generation Prius delivers 193 horsepower in normal form and 220 horsepower in the plug-in hybrid variant, making it much more potent than the previous model.
The previous 1.8-liter gasoline inline-four engine has been replaced by a 2.0-liter unit.
Although the U.S. version’s specifications may alter significantly from those of the current model, which has a combined output of only 121 hp, it is obvious that there will be much more power available.
The inside is depicted in a single image and features a sizable horizontal touchscreen, a digital gauge cluster on a tablet-style device behind the steering wheel, and a row of climate control buttons on the dash.
The bulky steering wheel is reminiscent of the bZ4X EVs, and the center console’s shifter resembles the joystick-style one from the previous generation of Prius.
Toyota plans to formally introduce the all-new Prius the following year. The new Prius will probably cost substantially more than the current model because it will have all the newest technology, a better powertrain, and better aesthetics.
Check back here again to learn everything there is to know about this latest generation of the hybrid hatchback because Toyota will shortly be revealing more information about the U.S.-spec Prius.
