Company wants to be one of the first mass-market electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers in Japan. The business has revealed that it’s new bZ4X all-electric SUV would make its premiere in Japan on May 12, 2022.
A bZ4X is Toyota’s first fully electric motor, designed in partnership with Subaru. Toyota claims it is made at the Motomachi factory in Japan, which uses environmentally friendly utility power produced from recyclable sources. The company claims that its new manufacturing facilities and electric vehicle would help it achieve carbon neutrality.
Toyota also stated that it plans to sell 5,000 bZ4X vehicles in Japan by 2022. It forecasted sales of up to 3,000 units in the third quarter and another 2,000 units in the fourth quarter of this calendar year.
Characteristic
A bZ4X is an all-electric subcompact crossover SUV that competes with Tesla Model Y and the Volkswagen ID.4 models. It comes in two forms for the worldwide market: XLE and Limited. Front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrains are offered on both models.
FWD models have a single 210 (horsepower) electric motor, while AWD models have two electric motors, one on each axle, for just a total of 214 hp. The base FWD models have a 71.4 kWh battery pack using Panasonic cells, while the AWD variants have a 72.8 kWh battery pack with CATL cells.
And according to EPA, FWD variants have a range of 228 miles (367 kilometers), whereas AWD variants have a range of 252 miles (405 kilometers). The vehicle’s pricing ranges from $42,000 to $48,780.
Toyota’s first step toward electrification is the bZ4X. Spite of the fact that Toyota hasn’t announced specific plans, rising demand is likely to prompt the company to extend its electric vehicle lineup.
