Saudi Arabia has officially changed the nationality law in a significant policy shift. After a suggestion from the Interior Minister, the modification now permits specific persons to get citizenship on the direction of Saudi Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
This significant decision modifies Article 8 of the Saudi Nationality Law and was published in the official gazette “Um Al Qura” on Friday.

Citizenship Law Before Amendment
The way things were before and how they are now are completely different. Previously, the Minister of Interior had to give his or her approval before awarding nationality to someone based on Article 8 of the Saudi Nationality Law’s Executive Regulations.
But, the Interior Minister’s approval is no longer required. This judgement shall be effective upon publication in the Official Gazette.
Especially in light of the government’s standards for determining who will be granted citizenship, many people are interested in this choice.
The choice is a component of Saudi Arabia’s plan to draw in global investors and business. The government anticipates that by doing this, the economy will become more diversified and less reliant on oil.
In the end, both the economy and society of Saudi Arabia will profit from this choice. As the nation develops and becomes more contemporary, initiatives like this will play a crucial role in determining the country’s future course.
