OSOM, a new smartphone company founded by former members of the Essential Company, is reportedly planning to launch the OSOM OV1 in the coming months.
The OSOM OV1 was supposed to go official at the end of the year during the Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona, Spain, but the launch has been postponed. The smartphone is now expected to be released in the summer.
There isn’t much known about the OSOM OV1 right now, but the company is focusing on privacy.
A recent poll on LinkedIn by the company revealed four new colours: Solar Yellow, Borealis Green, Twilight Blue, and Dusk Purple.
It is unknown whether all of these colours will make it to the device. Last year, the company also displayed the smartphone in black and white.
OSOM stands for “Out of sight, out of mind,” and OV1 stands for “OSOM Vault 1.”
Essential, a company founded by Andy Rubin, released its first smartphone, the Essential One, in 2017. After only a few years of selling its first handset, the company was forced to close its doors.
Nothing, a company founded by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, acquired Essential last year.
