Numerous promising prospects attended the Pakistan Auto Show (PAS) 2022. YES Electromotive is one such up-and-comer, a fully indigenous electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer aiming to launch MUVA electric rickshaws in Pakistan.
According to a company representative, MUVA electric rickshaws are handcrafted in Pakistan at their state-of-the-art facility in Lahore.
According to the representative, the company is still fine-tuning the product through testing and extensive research and development before officially launching these rickshaws in the market.
MUVA, which stands for Modular Utility Vehicle Architecture, is a development programme for light commercial vehicles.
These tiny EVs will perform the same function as a traditional rickshaw, but with zero tailpipe emissions and nearly seven times the operating cost of a petrol-powered three-wheeler.
The MUVA electric rickshaw is a commercial electric vehicle that seats a driver and three passengers. It has a payload capacity of 300 kilograms and a curb weight of 450 kilograms.
It is powered by a single permanent magnet electric motor that produces up to 10.7 horsepower.
According to the company representative, the MUVA rickshaw will only be sold as a commercial EV, with the company aiming for fleet sales. He also stated that YES Electromotive intends to use a ride-hailing service operating model, with riders summoning these rickshaws via a mobile app. YES Electromotive is a promising addition to Pakistan’s public transportation sector.
