The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reports that inflation measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) of inflation fell to 0.07 percent in the week ending July 20, 2023, as the prices of onions (10.29 percent), chicken (8.57 percent), bananas (8.34 percent), wheat flour (0.98), and non-food items (petrol 3.40 percent) and diesel (2.64%) all fell.
The inflation rate is fluctuating
Wheat flour (126.82 percent), cigarettes (110.75 percent), first-quarter gas costs (108.38 percent), lipton tea (98.99 percent), broken basmati rice (79.37 percent), irri-6/9 rice (74.1 percent), sugar (66.18 percent), potatoes (60.32 percent), gents sponge chappal (58.05 percent), tomatoes (57.58 percent), gur (54.21 percent), salt powdered (53.83) and bread (46.93 percent) all
Of the 51 products we tracked, 30 (58.82%) saw price increases, 9 (17.65%) saw price decreases, and 12 (23.53%) saw no change in price over the past week.
Tomatoes (36.06 percent), chilies powder national 200 gm packet each (20.17 percent), sugar (4.77), eggs (4.70%), gur (3.66%), shirting (2.64%), and garlic (2.31%) were among the items whose average prices rose during the week compared to the previous.
Onions (-10.29%), chicken (-8.57%), bananas (-8.54%), fuel super (-3.40%), hi-speed diesel (-2.64%), and wheat flour bag 20 kg (-0.98%) are only few of the commodities whose average costs fell this week compared to the previous.
