Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Islamabad, issued an order on Tuesday for a security audit and evaluation of all critical sites and structures in response to the recent wave of terrorism in the country.
The IGP reportedly requested that all government buildings, but particularly police stations, have more security checkpoints added.
The Inspector General of Police has instructed all Zonal Superintendents, SDPOs, and SHOs to conduct thorough checks in their respective zones, he added.

According to him, the IGP has ordered the SSP of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other police superiors to oversee all operations, and police officers will be present at all duty points with full protection gear.
He added that the IGP had ordered increased patrolling around Islamabad’s key structures and that instructions had been communicated to tighten checking at the capital’s entrances and exits. He urged travelers to always have necessary identification on them.
