Every year, 23rd March holds a special place in the hearts of Pakistanis as it marks the day when the Lahore Resolution was passed in 1940, laying the foundation for the creation of Pakistan. This day is not only a reminder of our struggle for independence but also a celebration of the visionary leaders who made it possible. At TechX Pakistan, we honor this historic day by reflecting on the contributions of these legends and drawing inspiration from their unwavering determination and unity.
The Lahore Resolution and Its Significance
On 23rd March 1940, the All-India Muslim League, under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, gathered at Minto Park (now Iqbal Park) in Lahore. The Lahore Resolution, also known as the Pakistan Resolution, was presented by A.K. Fazlul Huq and unanimously adopted by the Muslim League. This resolution demanded the creation of independent states for Muslims in the northwestern and eastern zones of India, where they were in the majority. It was a defining moment in the history of the subcontinent, setting the stage for the eventual creation of Pakistan in 1947.
