Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has announced a significant price increase for its locally assembled vehicles. PSMC has raised prices for the fourth time this year, keeping pace with its Japanese competitors.
The most recent price increase ranges from Rs. 243,000 to Rs. 661,000. Suzuki’s new prices are as follows, effective immediately:
While rising raw material costs, shipping costs, and tax rate increases have all contributed to the recent price increase, the main culprit remains the local currency depreciation. The new wave of price increases continues, implying that more price increases are on the way.
Among other vehicles, the prices of various Suzuki Swift variants such as the GL MT, GL CVT, and GLX CVT have risen. Suzuki Swift GL MT is now priced at Rs 3,349,000, while Swift GL CVT and Swift GLX CVT are now priced at Rs 3,599,000 and Rs 3,959,000, respectively.
The value of the US dollar against the Pakistani rupee has increased by more than Rs 55 since April 1. On July 29, the US dollar was trading at 184.09 in the interbank market, up 30.029 percent from the previous day, when it was trading at 239.37.
