There has been a report of a problem with one of the international underwater cables, which has caused internet service degradation throughout the nation.
According to sources at Nayatel, the submarine cable near Egypt has been broken, which has caused internet service degradation. The problem has had an impact on PTCL and Transworld Associates’ services.
Additionally, a PTCL representative acknowledged that the undersea cable had suffered damage. The spokesman also stated that the error hasn’t significantly impacted PTCL’s services.
Nayatel warned subscribers that they might be experiencing delayed or no internet in a message.
“You might be experiencing slow/no internet due to degradation in our uplink provider. Our teams are already in coordination with relevant stakeholders for the earliest resolution. Inconvenience is regretted,” the statement says.
One of the international undersea cables, the SMW5, had a reported fault that had reportedly led to a decline in internet connectivity across the country, according to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on November 2nd 2022.
Internet users in Pakistan also encountered issues in October 2021 after an underwater cable failed in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
Prior to that, one of Pakistan’s six international undersea cables malfunctioned in February not far from Abu Talat, Egypt, which negatively impacted internet connection across the whole nation. Later, TWA fixed the problem.
