According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, one of the international underwater cables, the SMW5, has a reported malfunction that has caused internet service degradation throughout the nation (PTA).
PTCL has informed all of the Internet service providers (ISPs) in Pakistan that one of the international upstream networks has once again experienced an outage.
Standard attempts to offer consumers continuous internet connections have so far proved ineffective, with eastbound traffic being severely hindered by outstanding problems that haven’t been fixed.
In response to concerns of poor internet speeds across the nation in December 2021, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited declared that it has “planned for alternate channels for bandwidth” to make up for a failure in an international undersea cable.
When an undersea cable malfunctioned in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, in October 2021, internet customers in Pakistan also experienced difficulties.
Prior to that, in February, one of Pakistan’s six international underwater cables experienced a malfunction close to Abu Talat, Egypt, which adversely affected internet connectivity throughout the country. TWA later corrected the issue.
