Spotify is incorporating music videos with its tunes, creating an experience akin to watching something on YouTube.
However, this feature is presently only available to Premium customers in 11 countries: the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Kenya.
Music videos on Spotify are currently being beta-tested in the public, after which we expect the functionality to be widely available around the world.
As a result, it has a limited catalogue of songs, many of which have music videos. This features songs from major musicians such as Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat, and Ice Spice, as well as “local favourites” Aluna and Asake.
These videos are presently available on Spotify’s web platform, as well as the Android, iOS, and TV apps. The video below depicts what the feature looks like.
If you’re currently listening to a supported song, you’ll see a new button named “Switch to Video.” This will convert your song from audio to video and start playing from the beginning in the new Now Playing area.
Users can return to audio-only mode whenever they like by pressing the same button, which is now labelled “Switch to Audio.”
You may watch the music video in full-screen by turning your phone into landscape mode, just as on YouTube.
Spotify has told customers that it would continue to improve and refine its music videos offering, promising to incorporate feedback from both users and artists to drive innovation.
This dedication includes gradually extending its music video catalogue, as well as increasing global access.
