Sony earlier today announced a new gaming accessory for the Xperia 1 IV that includes active cooling and four additional ports.
Sony also announced a new Xperia 1 IV Gaming Edition smartphone with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, in addition to the accessory.
Everything else, including the specs and design, is the same as the regular Xperia 1 IV, which includes a 6.5-inch 4K 120Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, and a 5,000 mAh battery.
Buyers will also receive a free Xperia Stream accessory with the purchase of the Xperia 1 IV Gaming Edition.
The Gaming Edition costs JPY 175,000, which translates to $1,225. It is already available for pre-order from Sony and Docomo in Japan, with official sales beginning on Thursday, September 15. International pricing and availability are currently unavailable.
Furthermore, the Xperia Stream works with the Game Enhancer on the phone to display real-time device status and ramp up the cooling fan when necessary.
The Game Enhancer also provides access to manual fan speed controls and a thermal boost setting, which allows the phone to easily handle demanding loads.
Sony created the Xperia Stream specifically for its flagship Xperia 1 IV, and it clicks onto the device with ease. Unfortunately, you will be unable to use it with any other devices.
