Lars Lokke Rasmussen, the Danish foreign minister of Denmark, is leading efforts to prevent the desecration of the Holy Quran. The Danish government is looking for a legislative way to stop these kinds of occurrences from happening, especially when they threaten Denmark’s relationships with other nations and cultures and religions. Sacred texts have been burned in front of embassies recently, prompting widespread condemnation and condemnation from throughout the world.
Rasmussen stressed that these arsons are the work of an extremist subset of Danish society. The free speech protections in both Denmark and Sweden limit their ability to prevent instances like these.
Danish government is taking measures
The Danish government is dedicated to upholding constitutionally guaranteed free speech in all its policies and procedures. They value free speech in Denmark and will uphold that value in their approach to the problem.
To address the recurrent vandalism and burning of the Holy Quran in Denmark and Sweden, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has asked for an unusual virtual session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Member States (CFM). Saudi Arabia, as Chair of the 14th Islamic Summit, and the Republic of Iraq requested this session to demonstrate the gravity of the issue in the Muslim world.
