Oppo’s new Xiao Bu Assistant is an experimental AI feature built on the company’s own huge language model, AndesGPT, and so joins the AI assistant hype train.
With improved semantic comprehension, content generation from text prompts, and summary abilities, the updated Xiao Bu Assistant represents a major step forward in artificial intelligence conversation technology.
What is AndestGPT
Oppo’s Andes Intelligent Cloud team built a powerful language model called AndesGPT and used it as the foundation for the enhanced Xiao Bu Assistant. AndesGPT is a hybrid cloud platform that was developed over the course of two years from a series of in-house models beginning with Obert and progressing in complexity and performance.
Parameters on the Obert models ranged from 100 million to 1 billion, and they received a lot of attention for their efforts: they briefly took first place in the large-scale knowledge graph question-answering benchmark KgCLUE1.0 and fifth place in the Chinese language understanding benchmark CLUE1.1.
AndesGPT builds on the foundation laid by the Obert model by including several key technologies that give it its unique properties. Constantly absorbing new information from Chinese conversations, fine-tuning through training, using reinforcement learning informed by human input, and expanding the existing body of knowledge are all part of the process.
Oppo has created a conversational assistant that is more intelligent, contextually attuned, and capable of delivering responsive interactions by capitalising on the extensive research and development efforts put in the Obert models.
Oppo’s choice is consistent with the industry trend, which sees AI integration becoming increasingly widespread across a variety of firms, including Huawei and Xiaomi.
