The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a Rs. 100 commemorative coin, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Thursday.
From August 11, 2023, the coin will be issued through SBP Banking Services Corporation’s exchange counters.
“The China Pakistan Economic Corridor has contributed greatly to Pakistan’s infrastructure and economic development since its decade of inception in 2013,” the SBP said.

The government has also decided to release a Rs. 100 commemorative coin to coincide with the CPEC’s 10th anniversary.
According to the specifications, the coin has a round form, a serrated edge, a diameter of 30.00 mm, a weight of 13.5 grams, and a Cupro-Nickel metal composition (Copper 75% and Nickel 25%).
According to Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan and China have grown close over the past ten years and refer to one another as “iron brothers” in a variety of fields.
The minister stated at a meeting in June to honor the CPEC’s tenth anniversary that “The Chinese president gave the concept of the CPEC during his visit to Pakistan and subsequently, a memorandum of understanding was signed to implement it.”
China had requested Pakistan to create a plan, and within three years, it had grown to be Pakistan’s top investor.
