The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is taking innovative initiatives to improve economic stability for unemployed women by providing interest-free loans to help them launch large-scale companies.
SBP Efforts For Women Empowerment
However, Fazal Muqeem, Deputy Chief Manager of SBP in Dera Ismail Khan, unveiled this effort during a one-day seminar titled ‘Women Bankability and Banking on Equality,’ sponsored by SBP at the Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI) for women.
Fazal Muqeem underlined that allowing women to start businesses of their own would not only empower them, but would also enable them to support their families as well as offer quality education for their children.
Moreover, he said that entrepreneurship was a critical response in the face of excessive inflation affecting all segments of society, particularly those with little economic resources.
SBP Initiatives For Women
Additionally, in conjunction with State Bank of Pakistan, the government has implemented initiatives to turn unemployed women into productive citizens.
As part of these initiatives, unemployed women’s bank accounts are being opened on an equal footing with men’s, providing them access to interest-free loans of up to Rs. 0.5 million.
However, Assistant Director Muhammad Zubair emphasized the need of adopting digital technology, pushing residents to become income tax filers in order to lower their tax burden.
