Rumors in recent weeks have suggested that Samsung will switch to MediaTek chips, which have shown to be more capable than their Snapdragon equivalents.
Newer reports from prominent Twitter tipsters have now disproved these rumors.
According to @chunvn8888 and Yogesh Brar, the Korean phone manufacturer would not use MediaTek for next Galaxy handsets. This suggests that Samsung will continue to use Qualcomm and Exynos CPUs in future phones.
The report was about Samsung’s next Galaxy S22 FE and S23, both of which were believed to include MediaTek CPUs a while back.
However, depending on the location, we can now expect to see Snapdragon or Exynos chips instead, most likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200.
The Exynos 2200’s poor performance and efficiency exacerbated the rumors. According to many accounts, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 isn’t faring any better.
According to reports, Samsung’s yield rates for the SD8G1 were also quite low, prompting Qualcomm to turn to TSMC for the SD8G1+.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is the fastest Android chip on the market right now. In terms of performance and power efficiency, it has outperformed Qualcomm and Exynos competitors.
Employing the Dimensity 9000 in a flagship Samsung would have been extremely beneficial for both MediaTek and Samsung, but this appears not to be the case this year.
