Young batter Sameer Minhas is steadily making a name for himself after gaining valuable exposure in Pakistan Super League 11 with Islamabad United.
The rising star has opened up about his journey, learning experience, and long-term ambitions, making it clear that his ultimate goal is to represent Pakistan at the highest level.
Focus on Growth and Opportunities
Minhas emphasized that his immediate goal is simple to make every opportunity count.
“My target is simple: whenever I get an opportunity, I want to make the most of it and play impactful innings for my team,” he said.
Being part of a competitive environment like the PSL has helped him grow both mentally and technically, giving him confidence to perform under pressure.
Learning from Senior Players
One of the biggest advantages for Minhas has been sharing the dressing room with experienced international players.
“You learn a lot by being around senior players. From game awareness to improving your skills, there is so much you can pick up,” he explained.
He also highlighted how constant discussions and interactions have helped him improve different aspects of his game.
Dream to Represent Pakistan
Like many young cricketers, Sameer Minhas has his eyes firmly set on the national team.
“Everyone’s goal is to play for Pakistan, serve the country for a long time, and win trophies. That is my aim as well,” he stated.
He added that while his long-term vision is clear, his current focus remains on performing consistently whenever given a chance.
Reflecting on U19 Asia Cup Success
Minhas also looked back at his time in Pakistan’s youth setup, especially the memorable victory in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup.
“We were focused on winning for Pakistan. Winning the Asia Cup was a major goal for us, and we achieved that,” he recalled.
However, he acknowledged that the team couldn’t replicate that success in the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, despite strong intentions.
“Unfortunately, we could not go all the way in the World Cup, but our mindset was always to bring trophies for the country,” he added.
Team Environment and Development
Minhas highlighted the importance of teamwork and continuous improvement within the squad.
“We regularly talk, train together in the nets, and point out each other’s strengths and weaknesses. It helps us improve as players,” he shared.
This collaborative environment has played a key role in shaping his development as a professional cricketer.
