Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper-batsman for Pakistan, will be available for selection in the team’s next Asia Cup Super Four match against Afghanistan on Wednesday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stated that Rizwan, who appeared to have hurt himself during the scheduled match between Pakistan and India, will be ready for the team’s match against Afghanistan today.
However, Rizwan took advantage of a rest day yesterday and skipped the team’s scheduled practice in order to be fully prepared for the Afghanistan game.
The earlier information hinted that the right-handed batter thought he might have a strain in his right leg. When Rizwan tried to catch the bouncer off Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling, he landed awkwardly on his right leg and immediately collapsed to the ground in extreme pain.
However, the wicketkeeper batter continued to keep wickets for the remainder of the innings and also showed amazing tenacity in a difficult run chase. He batted for about 17 overs and scored 71 runs, the highest total for the team against India.
When the position behind the stumps was still open soon after the 2015 World Cup, Rizwan made his debut for his country.
In his first eight innings, he averaged nearly 60 with the bat against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.
