We have never been wealthier, more advanced, or more powerful in human history. Despite this, we are feeling helpless in the face of accelerating climate change. On the surface, it appears to be straightforward. Greenhouse gases absorb solar energy and transfer it to the atmosphere. This results in hotter winters and hotter summers. Wet locations become wetter, and dry places become dryer. Countless ecosystems will perish as rising sea levels swallow coastlines and the towns we construct on them. So, why don’t we just… avoid everything? It’s complex, to say the least.
