144 fake FIFA World Cup trophies have been found by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation’s Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department, working with the Intellectual Property Protection Committee.
The incident concerned a breach of Law No. 10 of 2021, which dealt with preparations for Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2022, according to a post on social media from the Ministry of Interior.
The government claimed to have learned of a website that offered fake FIFA World Cup medals.
After a thorough search and investigation, the accused were located, and they were in possession of multiple fake trophies. As a result, legal action was taken. Regarding the unauthorized use of intellectual property rights associated with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, FIFA has distributed many awareness campaigns.
In collaboration with FIFA, the Ministry of Interior and Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy will keep working to spread awareness of the intellectual property rights connected to the competition.
