800,000 arms licences have been suspended by orders issued by Maryam Nawaz, the recently elected chief minister of Punjab which cited sources on Tuesday. These orders were given by her as the head of a high-level meeting.
The Punjab chief minister declared that only courts will grant new weapons licences in the future while suspending the current ones.
Nonetheless, the Punjab government’s spokesperson has made it clear that the province is not suspending gun licences.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office spokesperson, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, has not given any orders to revoke licences for carrying weapons. In addition, Maryam Nawaz Sharif disclosed a plan to fix the province’s streets.
In a meeting with the MPAs of District Sheikhupura and Nankana of the Punjab Assembly, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also requested a plan for the villages’ access to sewage and clean drinking water.
She also asked for an urgent plan for the repair of city and village streets and minor roads, and she directed the members of the Punjab Assembly to demand the project in writing.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said: “We want to make each constituency a model constituency in terms of development projects.”
