The Punjab government’s failure to control pollution in the province has drawn the ire of the Lahore High Court (LHC).
An LHC panel hinted at announcing three vacations for all public and private schools and institutions in the state while hearing petitions against the current haze in Punjab.
The bench is also debating whether to mandate work-from-home (WFH) policies for all provincial public and commercial enterprises. The LHC took into account these actions to shield inhabitants from smog-related ailments.
The Punjab administration doesn’t seem serious about implementing tough measures to combat pollution in the state, according to LHC Judge Justice Shahid Kareem.
He continued by saying that the province’s pollution condition is becoming worse every day. In order to reduce pollution in Punjab, Justice Shahid also recommended that the province administration recruit well-known worldwide environmentalists. The Punjab administration doesn’t seem serious about implementing tough measures to combat pollution in the state, according to LHC Judge Justice Shahid Kareem.
In regards to the closure of educational institutions and WFH for offices, Justice Shahid instructed the attorneys to engage the pertinent provincial ministries and update the court on the next hearing.
