The Punjab government has approved the purchase of 25 new VIP security vehicles to enhance the safety of high-profile individuals across the province. Reports reveal that the project will cost over Rs270 million. The decision was made to strengthen the security measures for top officials and important personalities, following the recommendation of the provincial administration and security agencies.
Types and Prices of the Vehicles
According to City 42, the new fleet will include Toyota Hilux Revo G, Rocco, and 4×2 variants. The prices of these vehicles range from Rs7 million to Rs15 million, depending on their model and features. Each vehicle will be equipped with bar lights and special fabrication designed to meet operational needs and ensure top performance during security movements.
Vehicles to Support Punjab Police and Special Branch
The Punjab Police and the Special Branch will receive these newly purchased VIP vehicles. The move aims to improve their operational efficiency, especially during official visits and high-risk movements. With the addition of these vehicles, security departments will have better resources to respond swiftly to any potential threat or emergency across Punjab.
Earlier Plans for Jammer-Equipped Vehicles
Earlier this year, the government had approved another plan to purchase five jammer-equipped vehicles for VVIP security. These vehicles were meant to support high-level convoys and ensure communication safety. Official records show that Rs467.2 million was set aside for this project, covering the cost of two imported Land Cruisers and three Land Cruiser Prados to enhance protective measures.
Cabinet Approval and Implementation
The cabinet had already approved these purchases before tenders were issued. The decision reflects the government’s ongoing focus on modernizing security operations and providing better tools to law enforcement. Once delivered, the vehicles are expected to be deployed immediately in Lahore and other key districts to support VIP movements and improve the overall security setup of the province.
