Punjab Police have strengthened their campaign against environmental violations, registering 51 new cases in Lahore and other districts over the last 24 hours. The operations targeted individuals and businesses contributing to air pollution. In this latest enforcement, authorities arrested offenders and issued fines totaling over Rs1.067 million. Additionally, 38 people were warned for breaching environmental rules, showing a firm commitment to improving air quality.
Focus on Major Pollution Sources
The crackdown specifically targeted key contributors to smog. Authorities acted against 209 smoke-emitting vehicles, 101 cases of stubble burning, and seven violations linked to brick kilns. By concentrating on these major pollution sources, the Punjab Police aim to reduce the harmful impact of air pollution on public health. Enforcement and Year-Round Operations
This operation is part of a year-long initiative by law enforcement. Since January, authorities have registered 2,275 cases and arrested 2,027 offenders. Financial penalties have exceeded Rs227.1 million, applied to 87,780 individuals, while 11,268 others received warnings. Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar has directed authorities to intensify the anti-smog campaign across the province.
