Bilal Akbar Khan, the Punjab Transport Minister, has announced an increase in the quota for electric bikes.
According to the minister, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz intends to treble the number of e-bikes under the government programme.
He further stated that in the first phase of the project, motorcycles will be distributed to students from various universities.
During the inaugural meeting of the e-bike steering group, Khan stated that a framework for reviewing the application process and addressing student issues will be established.
Dr. Javed Ahmed Qazi, Secretary of Transport, informed the meeting that CM Maryam had appointed a steering committee to handle difficulties concerning the supply of E and P bikes.
Previously, the Chief Minister approved the distribution of 20,000 electric bikes to citizens. Another summary will be moved to increase the quantity of motorcycles.
During the conference, the participants submitted several proposals, with a focus on include unique people and other areas in the programme.
The provincial minister suggested organizing a working committee on this issue. Furthermore, he asked that all actions be fully outlined on the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) portal to avoid ambiguities.
Bilal Akbar Khan directed the officials to produce a plan for supplying 15,000 to 25,000 bikes to students for approval by the Chief Minister.
In addition, he directed that the scheme be advertised in publications and that all preparations be completed by June.
