The Lahore High Court LHC has mandated that Punjab electric bike scheme must secure an environmental No-Objection Certificate (NOC). Underscoring the importance of environmental compliance in government initiatives.
The Lahore High Court LHC ruled that Punjab’s environmentally friendly electronic motorcycle program can move forward if it obtains an environmental No-Objection Certificate (NOC). The decision came from a hearing focused on combating smog and environmental pollution. It’s unusual that the government and shops don’t need an NOC to sell fossil-fuel cars or similar programs that harm the environment.
Justice Shahid Karim presided over the case, emphasizing that government Punjab electric bike projects must follow environmental regulations.
The court ruled that the motorcycling programme could not continue without first obtaining an environmental NOC. It underlined how critical it is to address environmental contamination.
As part of larger environmental conservation initiatives, the court ordered the total repair and safety improvement of all city parks. The court recommended the use of fines as a means of ensuring adherence to park-related guidelines.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has received directions to repair seven sports complexes and submit a detailed report on tree-felling activities. The Punjabi government must submit a comprehensive report on these environmental Punjab electric bike activities by May 27.
