Wheat Crisis in Punjab “Grow More Wheat” Drive
Punjab has much wheat and the government collects four million tons of wheat each year.
Nobody got any wheat. The Punjab Food Department started a project in October and November.
People who have wheat can only sell it for not enough money.
They are selling it for Rs1,000 per 40kg. That’s less the official price of Rs3,900 per 40kg.
Misinterpretation Leads to False Impression of Wheat Ban
Two days ago, a message on social media made people confused. The message said good officers should be at checkpoints to stop smuggling. People thought Punjab would not let wheat move between places.
A department spokesperson said there are no rules stopping wheat movement. Punjab lets wheat move.
Keeping track is important. It stops bad people from making a false lack of wheat in the market.
