Pakistan has launched its first mission to the moon, signalling its entry into the global space exploration field for scientific studies.
The mission was launched from China’s Hainan Space Site. The Electrical Engineering Department of the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in Islamabad spent two years developing the satellite, which weighs approximately seven kilogrammes.
The website and various social media platforms provided live coverage of the satellite’s launch. The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) organised the satellite’s journey to the moon’s orbit, which is expected to take approximately five days.
Pakistan has become the sixth country in the world to launch a mission to the moon. The integration of iCube Qamar with China’s Chang’e 6 mission represents a significant step forward in bilateral collaboration.
As iCube Qamar began its journey, Pakistan’s national anthem played, signalling a watershed moment for the nation.
