A contract for the construction of electronic toll plazas on highways was signed on Monday by the National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
The contract was signed by Brig ® Asif Siddique, Director IT from Frontier Works Organization (FWO), and Muhammad Azhar, Member Finance from National Highway Authority (NHA).
Brig (R) Asif Siddique, director of IT for the Frontier Works Organization, provided a briefing on the electronic toll collection system.
According to Mahmood, this deal, which calls for the electronic collection of highway toll taxes, has a 7-year term that may be extended by a further three years. Modern equipment installation, administration services, and other associated services are all part of the tolling system.
The goal of this fibre link is to use electronic toll collection rather than manual toll payment in order to acquire reliable data regarding toll income.
According to Mahmood, the major goals of e-tolling are to maintain the flow of traffic and commercial activity as well as to guarantee the entire safety of passengers. Time will be saved, and a steady flow of traffic would be assured if all the toll booths on the highways are connected and coordinated.
According to Mahmood, the country’s national roadways would progressively receive the electronic toll system. He hoped that the eight-month deadline will be met for the computerized toll tax collecting strategy on highways. He stated that ongoing NHA projects should be finished as quickly as feasible with a sense of patriotism.
