Pakistan is one step closer to receiving its own high-speed trains from China. According to a recent report from CCTV, Pakistan may soon get technology for a high-speed train that travels at 160 km/h.
As of now, the first train carriages have been loaded and will begin shipping on November 3. There are 46 units in the batch.
According to the report, Pakistan would receive another 184 carriages to construct. Additionally, this is the first time China has brought such technology to our nation.
Considering that, Pakistan’s railway sector is still using outdated trains from decades ago, this would represent a significant advancement. Even while 160 km/h is not a significant improvement over the 100 km/h that Pakistan’s fastest trains are capable of, it is nonetheless a positive development given the status of our railway system at the moment.
Although more specific information regarding these Chinese trains is currently unavailable, we will update this section as soon as it becomes available.
In related developments, Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged on Wednesday during PM Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Beijing to help Pakistan’s financial crisis.
In order for businesses and financial institutions in China and Pakistan to utilise the Chinese Yuan for cross-border transactions, the National Bank of Pakistan and the central bank of China recently inked a memorandum of cooperation. The People’s Bank of China disclosed this while deciding how to create the RMB (Chinese Yuan) clearance mechanism in Pakistan.
