Pakistan is ranked tenth on the list of the largest mobile markets by downloads in App Annie’s report ‘State of Mobile 2022,’ with 2.604 billion reported mobile app downloads in 2021, up from 2.05 billion in 2020 and 1.61 billion in 2019.
Pakistan also ranks sixth among the world’s largest mobile markets in terms of app hours spent in 2021, up from 104.4 billion in 2020 and 73.98 billion in 2019.

The epidemic, according to App Annie, is to blame for the stated mobile behaviors that entrenched in 2021. The surge in downloads was mainly by emerging markets, with India being the outstanding performer. Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Egypt were among the fastest-growing markets in terms of downloads, with YoY growth rates of 25%, 25%, 20%, 15%, and 15%, respectively.

Over 230 billion app downloads, $170 billion in consumer spending, and 3.8 trillion hours of app-time were recorded globally in the smartphone world.
With overall spending on mobile applications expected to reach $170 billion in 2021, this is a 19% increase in the amount of money spent by companies/developers over the previous year.
The mobile ecosystem has stayed strong during the pandemic, according to App Annie. In 2021, publishers created two million new games and apps, while advertising spending increased by 23% year over year to $295 billion.
