Over 22,600 free tickets were provided to PIA officers and employees in the last three years, according to data on PIA income and expenses provided by Minister of Aviation Khwaja Saad Rafique.
The national carrier made Rs147 billion in 2019, Rs95 billion in 2020, and Rs86 billion in 2021, while spending Rs174.55 billion in 2019, Rs38.88 billion in 2020, and Rs35 billion in 2021.
The PIA officials were given the opportunity to fly for free on 19500 domestic and 3000 international flights.
In the year 2020, 8286 free tickets were distributed to PIA officers, 7067 in the year 2021, and 7249 in September of this year.
Saad Rafique chastised the PTI government for hiring people without merit. So far, 7249 tickets have been distributed in 2022.
