Nothing has launched a one-of-a-kind initiative today to demonstrate its commitment to community-centric values.
Nothing’s latest project invites its community to contribute their creative talents to designing, packaging, and personalising a one-of-a-kind edition of the Phone (2a).
Kind edition of 2a
This innovative venture, appropriately named “The Community Edition Project,” represents a step forward in collaborative creation.
Nothing’s initiative, which spans six months and is divided into four distinct stages, is expected to unfold gradually.
Throughout this time, Nothing will actively solicit community contributions for the design aspects of the special edition Phone (2a), which include hardware, wallpapers, packaging, and marketing materials.
Inaugural Phase
According to the company, the creators of the winning entries in each stage will have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to collaborate with the Nothing Team and realise their creative visions.
The inaugural phase begins on March 26 with the hardware design segment.
Beginning with this date, submissions will be accepted through the designated website. The winning design will be refined in collaboration with Nothing’s London-based industrial design team, making the entrant’s concept a reality.
Design Phase
In May, the focus shifts to wallpaper design for the exclusive phone edition. The wallpaper collection you select will be pre-installed in the device’s interface.
June will then bring along the packaging design phase, which Nothing describes as a “chance to craft a special unboxing experience that ties together the hardware and wallpaper design.”
Marketing
The finale takes place in July, and it focuses solely on marketing efforts. Participation entails creating and submitting a creative proposal designed to promote the Phone (2a) Community Edition, with guidance from Nothing’s renowned Brand & Creative team.
The Nothing team will graciously host all winners from the four categories in London for the highly anticipated phone launch event.
This event will provide an opportunity to demonstrate how the combination of winning ideas contributed to the development of this one-of-a-kind device.
Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, has said the following about the community project:
In the future, maybe the community can also contribute code to Nothing OS or maybe they can create other products with us. We’ve got to believe in people and in the democratization of information and knowledge.
