The presence of the Covid-19’s new sub-variant in the country has been confirmed by the National Institute of Health (NIH).
The NIH said in a statement that a sub-variant of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, XBB, has been present in the country for the last three months.
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) is keeping an eye on the coronavirus situation in the country, according to the NIH.
Dr. Faisal Mahmood, a member of the Sindh Corona Taskforce, urged people to wear face masks and avoid public gatherings after a new variant of Covid-19 was discovered in Karachi.
While confirming the detection of new Covid variant cases in Karachi, Dr Faisal Mahmood stated that the number of Covid patients infected with the new variant presenting to hospitals is small.
In the event of illness, he advised people to seek medical attention. People who are sick have been advised to wear face masks and avoid going to public places.
The Sindh Health Department had previously confirmed the presence of the Omicron variant’s XBB and XBB-1 subvariants in Karachi.
According to the health department, six cases of the new Covid-19 variant have been identified in Karachi. It confirmed Pakistan’s immunity to the highly infectious corona subvariant variant BF-7.
