Spotify’s ‘Wrapped 2022’ just dropped! And for millions of listeners globally, it has become the perfect swansong for an amazing year coming to a close. And what a time it has been.
2022 was a year of surprises! With the world kicked into cultural hyperdrive, fresher tastes and a staggering diversity in music was witnessed. Most notably, it was the time for a new generation of artists to emerge.
Although Atif Aslam remained the most streamed Pakistani artist in the year, along with Young Stunners, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Asim Azhar, the remaining names in the Top 10 list of most streamed local artists were conquered by upcoming talents who have carved their way into listener’s hearts.

Audiences in Pakistan and abroad have displayed a trend of finding their groove with newer voices this year. Wrapped 2022 revealed Talha Anjum and Abdul Hannan as the second and third most streamed artists from the country shedding light on the influence that Gen-Z holds in the music industry today.
The younger generation became the driving force behind listener orientation bringing fresher talents to the limelight, enjoying their unique compositions and taking both artists and tracks to the top of numerous local as well as global playlists on Spotify.
Abdul Hannan, who started his journey on Spotify with Fresh Finds Pakistan playlist, had two of his tracks, Bikhra and Iraaday trending continuously on Spotify Charts this year. Bikhra received immense love from audiences, becoming one of the most streamed songs of the year.
Throughout the year 2022, listening dynamics continued to shift and we were introduced to fresher voices one after the other. Hasan Raheem, the powerful vocalist behind “Peechay Hutt”, Ali Sethi of “Pasoori” fame and “Iraaday” Rovalio known for the hits, “Iraaday” and “Bikhra”, were all amongst the list of Wrapped top 10 most streamed local artists.
The Tracks that Topped the Charts in 2022
Throughout the year, the craze for Pasoori remained unfaltering but the new generation made a significant mark in the industry with some of the catchiest tracks we’ve heard so far. 2022 was a great year for Kaifi Khalil, another singer bringing a fresher twist to traditional Balochi music, with two of his tracks, Kana Yaari and Kahani Suno 2.0, making their way to the top 10 list of most streamed songs in Pakistan.
Azaan Sami Khan, the son of Zeba Bakhtiar and Adnan Sami Khan, also made a mark for himself this year with Ik Lamha. His track was another tasteful addition to the leading local songs on Spotify.
