The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has requested the government. To raise the basic energy cost by up to Rs 7.12 per unit.

This rate increase, carefully considered for different consumer categories, would be applied evenly across the country, including Karachi.
For three months, households and consumers purchasing up to 200 units per month would be exempt from the increase.
Home Clients With 201 To 300 Units
According to the notification, home clients with 201 to 300 units per month. Would witness a new rate structure, with the tariff increasing by Rs 7.12 to Rs 34.26 per unit.
Those utilizing units between 301 and 400 would see a Rs 7.02 hike, taking the pricing to Rs 39.15 per unit. Consumers between 401 and 500 units would see their prices increase by Rs. 6.12 to Rs 41.36 per unit.
Pricing Of Units Between 501-600 Units
The pricing for those between 501 and 600 units would rise by Rs 6.12 to Rs 42.78 per unit, while those between 601 and 700 units would see a rise of Rs 6.12 to Rs 43.92.
Furthermore, if the consumer purchases more than 700 units monthly, the rate will rise by Rs 6.12 to Rs 48.84 per unit.
Meanwhile, ‘lifeline customers ‘, who are those that use up to 50 units a month, will continue to pay Rs 3.95 each. Those who consume 51-100 units will continue to pay Rs 7.74 per unit.
NEPRA Notified The Federal
NEPRA has notified the federal government about the tariff hike. The government is likely to [specific process, such as review the proposal or conduct public hearings] before making an official notification shortly.
The tariff increase will be implemented equitably across the country, ensuring a consistent rate for all regions, including Karachi.
