Mozilla has established a new paid membership service to assist the Mozilla Developer Network’s (MDN) development.
Developers currently use MDN to locate CSS, HTML, and JavaScript documentation and code samples, but MDN Plus will bring three new features: Notifications, Collections, and MDN Offline.
Staying on top of the newest innovations in technology may be tough, especially for busy programmers. After following a page, members receive notifications in MDN Plus about all of the newest developments, such as documentation revisions, the availability of new CSS capabilities, and more.
In the meanwhile, MDN Plus’ collections function allows you to save MDN articles as well as pages you usually visit so that you have them all in one place when you need them.
When developers don’t have a good internet connection or are entirely offline, they may need to access MDN. MDN offline uses a Progressive Web Application (PWA) to provide users with access to MDN Web Docs even when they are not connected to the internet, allowing them to continue working uninterrupted.
MDN Plus
MDN Plus was created after Mozilla conducted a study of over 60k MDN users between 2020 and 2021 and discovered that many of them desired a more personalized Mozilla Developer Network’s (MDN) experience.
Mozilla’s new developer subscription service is now available in the United States and Canada, with plans to expand to other countries in the coming months, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
MDN core is the first plan, and it’s designed for developers who want to try out a limited version of the service before investing on a plan. MDN Plus 5 is the next option, which costs $5 per month or $50 per year and gives you unrestricted access to alerts, collections, MDN offline, and other planned features.
MDN Supporter 10 is for MDN’s most devoted supporters who desire everything in MDN Plus 5 plus early access to future features and a direct line of communication with the MDN staff. At $10 per month or $100 for the year, it’s just slightly more costly.
Developers who subscribe to one of MDN Plus’ yearly membership plans will receive a 20% discount from Mozilla.
