Motorbike License Fine in Karachi Jumps to Rs20,000

Traffic authorities in Karachi have announced a major move to improve road safety by raising the fine for riding without a valid license to Rs20,000. DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah said this new rule aims to promote discipline among citizens. He urged everyone to check their driving licenses and renew them if expired to avoid facing heavy penalties.

Zero Tolerance for Traffic Violations

DIG Shah made it clear that the traffic department will show no mercy to those who break the law. Anyone caught driving a motorbike without a valid license will instantly face a fine of 20,000. The department’s message is firm—no leniency or excuses will be accepted. The goal is to make Karachi’s roads safer for both drivers and pedestrians.

Speed Limit Set for All Vehicles

The traffic department also clarified the speed limit rules across the city. According to the DIG, all vehicles small or large must follow a strict 60 kmph speed limit. Violators will face immediate action under the city’s updated monitoring plan. Authorities are using new tools and systems to track speeding vehicles in real time and issue automatic fines.

Introduction of Faceless E-Challan System

A new faceless e-challan system has officially started working in Karachi. This system uses cameras and digital records to automatically issue challans for traffic violations. On its first day, more than 2,662 e-challans were issued within six hours. The total fines collected reached over Rs12.5 million, showing how serious the city is about enforcing traffic rules.

Common Traffic Offenses Reported

According to traffic officials, the most common violations caught by cameras were not wearing seat belts, riding without helmets, and speeding. Data showed 1,535 challans for missing seat belts, 507 for not wearing helmets, 419 for speeding, and 166 for running red lights. These numbers highlight how many people still ignore basic safety rules in Karachi.

Continuous Efforts to Improve Road Safety

DIG Shah shared that the new digital system has been upgraded with better technology to ensure transparency and accuracy. He said the campaign will continue until traffic discipline becomes a regular habit among citizens. The authorities believe that consistent enforcement will help reduce accidents and create a safer driving culture across Karachi’s busy roads.

Public Urged to Follow Rules

The traffic department has urged citizens to follow all road safety rules and keep their vehicle documents up to date. Officials reminded the public that these strict steps are not meant to punish but to protect lives. By obeying traffic laws and respecting speed limits, citizens can play their part in making Karachi’s roads safe and organized.
