Javed Afridi has teased the MG3 hatchback yet again. The vehicle has been one of the most anticipated cars to be launched in Pakistan since Mr. Afridi teased a Rs 2.0 million price tag for the hatchback.
Earlier this year, Javed Afridi stated that MG will launch three new locally assembled cars in Pakistan, including the MG3 hatchback; however, in his most recent video, Afridi has assured that the MG3 will be priced under two million rupees.
He also claims that the MG3 is nearing completion, implying that the vehicle will be available in our market soon. The 19-second video clip features various shots of the MG3 hatchback, but no technical information has been released as of yet.
It’ll be interesting to see how MG plans to price this hatchback under Rs 2.0 million, given that the 660cc Alto is currently the only mass-produced car in that price range.
Since MG3’s first “under 2.0 million” tweet in February 2021, a lot has changed, including massive currency depreciation, rising shipping costs, new taxes, and tighter bank financing amid the country’s volatile economic situation.
Cars like the new Suzuki Swift, which competes with the MG3, cost Rs 3.3 million, which is significantly more than the MG3’s teased price.
The MG3 is the smallest vehicle in MG’s global lineup, and it is currently in its third generation, which has received a couple of facelifts—the most recent iteration was released in 2018.

It is powered by a 1.5L engine that produces 105hp with 137Nm and 109hp with 150Nm and is mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. MG also has a downsized 1.0L three-cylinder turbo engine in its arsenal, which is used with the ZS crossover in certain markets, and there is a good chance that the smaller turbo engine will be used with the MG3 in our market.
