In the metaverse, things are already changing.
On June 6, Meta will migrate the event locations from its Horizon Venues VR app to the Horizon Worlds platform, but that’s not the only change coming to the young VR platform.
For starters, Meta is removing the standalone Horizon Venues app on the same day, resulting in some organisations losing access to the event space.
The new Venues feature will be unavailable to anybody under the age of 18 who lives outside of the United States or Canada, for example.
Users of the outdated Quest 1 virtual reality headset will also lose access. You’ll still be able to record replays of events using the Oculus television app.
Players outside of the US and Canada will not have to wait long. Meta also stated that the brand-new Horizon Worlds would be available to more countries later this summer.
Horizons Worlds was released in December 2021 to all users above the age of 18 and received mixed reviews.
Some commentators praised Meta’s decision to create a virtual reality universe. Horizon Worlds has been planned for being boring, with mediocre visuals and excessive load times.
The open VR playspace has some novel notions, but in comparison to other VR games, it gradually fades.
However, the lacklustre reviews haven’t piqued Meta’s interest in Horizon Worlds. The company invested a lot of money to get big-name musical acts to venues, such as the Foo Fighters, who have performed on multiple internet shows.
