Building a virtual world called the Metaverse with the soccer team Manchester City has been revealed by Sony.
The business announced at CES 2023 that “the Proof of Concept” will let spectators interact with the virtual Etihad Stadium using their own personalized avatars.
The virtual characters can be seen dancing and celebrating while sprinting around the stadium and the ground in an official video that has been released.
According to Sony’s Senior Product Planner Nami Iwamoto, gamers will be able to communicate in a distinctive fashion using avatars, 3D pictures, and “other expressions unique to the metaverse.”
Proof of Concept also includes virtual recreations of significant moments from other views, such as the viewpoints of individual players.
Sony used seven sensors to record footage and volumetric data of Manchester City players in order to digitally recreate them for the metaverse.
The video depicts people using their smartphones to access the virtual world, suggesting that the notion is intended for devices with lower specifications.
Metaverse App
Players would be able to design their own unique avatars, according to a press release from Sony. According to spokesman Yo Kikuchi, the app is scheduled to launch in 2023. The nations and areas where it will be published, though, are “still under consideration.”
The business was already creating Metaverse for PlayStation games, which is important to notice.
