Islamabad advanced to the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League after claiming victory over Quetta. The all-rounder Faheem Ashraf hit three consecutive fours in the final over to help United advance to the play-offs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8. The victory gave United a two-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators.
Islamabad needed nine runs in the final over in order to win the match after Quetta had scored 179 runs for six wickets and Islamabad had been bowled out. Ashraf, who was on 39 at the time, kept his bat in play by hitting fast bowler Odion Smith for three fours in the first three balls.
After losing eight wickets, Islamabad reached 183 runs before the final three balls were bowled.
Islamabad Entry in Playoffs
Islamabad has now won five of their last seven matches, putting them in second place behind only Lahore Qalandars. The Qalandars were the first team to ensure their spot in the postseason by qualifying for the playoffs.
On the other hand, Quetta is dangerously close to being eliminated from the competition because they have only two points after playing in seven matches.
Mohammad Nawaz and Najibullah Zadran both scored 52 runs for Quetta while facing 44 balls. Najibullah Zadran scored 59 runs for Quetta. While this was going on, Colin Munro amassed 63 runs for his team off of 29 balls, which included four sixes and five fours.
