In the first five months of the current fiscal year, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Income Authority (KPRA) brought in a record-high of Rs 12.61 billion in revenue. Compared to the Rs 9.2 billion raised in the same time last year, this is a 37% increase in revenue.
KPRA is tasked with collecting Rs 35 billion for the next fiscal year (2022-2023), of which Rs 32 billion is to be collected as service tax and Rs 3 billion as infrastructure development.
KP Finance Department records indicate that Rs 1.7 billion was raised for infrastructure development. In contrast, Rs 1.1 billion was raked in during the same time period last year, while an additional Rs 11 billion was raked in via sales tax on services on services worth Rs 8.1 billion. Over the course of five months, a total of Rs 12.61 billion has been collected.
Taimur Saleem Jhagra, the provincial minister of finance, praised KPRA’s success and indicated that the KP government should offer KPRA’s services to the federal government if it was having trouble meeting its revenue goals. The KP administration is prepared to offer any assistance necessary to meet income objectives because the federal government is currently underperforming, according to Jhagra.
