Pakistan Digital City Special Technology Zone project in Haripur, expanding across 86 canals, the one of its kind is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.
The PM will be accompanied by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Mahmood Khan, and federal and provincial ministers in the ceremony.
The news of the country’s first-ever Digital City in Haripur was announced by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Information Technology Board (KPIT), back in 2020.
Afterwards in August 2021, the ‘Digital City’ project in Haripur was approved at an estimated cost of almost PKR 1.31 billion by the KP government.
Pakistan Digital City Haripur is a remarkable attempt of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government that aims to bring all IT sector services together in one location.
The project’s goal is to create a cutting-edge facility that will promote collaboration and innovation among academia, research, industry, and planners from both within and outside the country.
Affiliated industries, such as electronics, software houses, the mobile phone industry, technology incubators, and the computer industry will also benefit from the Digital Project.
On December 23, Technopolis, a 700-acre Special Technological Zone near Lahore, was also inaugurated by Imran khan who termed it as, “an effort to promote the country’s technology exports.”
This special technology zone was established to increase Pakistan’s tech exports and create more jobs.
