According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the overall production of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) increased by 7.8% in July-February 2021-22 compared to July-February 2020-21 with the base year 2015-16. (PBS).
However, the overall output of LSMI increased by 4.6 percent for July-February 2021-22 compared to July-February 2020-21, according to the Provisional Quantum Index Numbers of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (QIM) with the base year 2005-06.
The LSMI output climbed by 8.4% in February 2022 compared to February 2021, but fell by 2.3 percent in January 2022 compared to January 2005-06.
When compared to February 2021, the LSMI output climbed by 8.6%, and by 0.3 percent when compared to January 2022, with the base year 2015-16.
According to the LSM data released by the PBS with the base year 2015-16 after collecting it from the Provincial Bureau of Statistics (BOS), the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), and the Ministry of Industries, the OCAC had a month-on-month growth of 1.5 percent in February 2022 compared to the previous month, and a year-on-year growth of 6.8% in February 2022 compared to February 2022.
On a month-to-month (MoM) basis, the Ministry of Industries-related sectors experienced a negative growth of 5.8% in February 2022 compared to January 2022, but year-on-year (YoY) growth was 10.1 percent in February 2022 compared to the same month in 2021.
According to the PBS, LSM-related data to the Provincial Bureau of Statistics (BOS) increased by 9.4% month over month in February 2022 compared to the previous month, and the BOS increased by 7% year over year in February 2022 compared to February 2021.
Food, tobacco, textile, wearing apparel, chemicals, iron and steel products, automobiles and furniture, wood products, paper and board, coke and petroleum products, non-metallic mineral products, machinery, and equipment all increased in production from July to February 2021-22, while pharmaceuticals, rubber products, fabricated metal, and electrical equipment all decreased.
