Geely has unveiled the all-new Boyue L SUV in China, which will sit between the Boyue and the Xingyue L in the Chinese market.
The Boyue L, based on the well-known FX11 prototype and inspired by the Vision Starburst concept, features a striking new design language that will also be applied to future Geely models.
The front-end features headlamps that are integrated vertically into the bumper. An array of dashed lights with a lit-up Geely emblem in between sits atop a mesh grille, giving the vehicle a very distinct and identifiable front end.
The side profile has a crease that runs over the doors to the waistline and onto the D-pillar, and the sloping roof adds to the vehicle’s sporty stance.
It has a two-tone paint scheme with a black roof and pillars that match the black bumpers and wheel arches. A full-width light bar connects boomerang-shaped LED lights at the rear.
Inside, there’s new double-D cut multi-function steering, as well as a massive 13.2-inch horizontally oriented central touch screen and a digital instrument cluster.
The operating system is known as ‘Geely Galaxy OS Air,’ and it supports OTA updates. A Qualcomm 8155 chip provides computing power.
The new Geely Boyue L has a wheelbase of 2,777 mm and measures 4,670/1,900/1,705 mm. It rides on Geely’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, which is used in its small and compact-sized vehicles.
Volvo and Geely collaborated to develop the technology under the China Euro Vehicle Technology AB (CEVT) R&D banner.
The new Boyue L will be available with four different powertrain options. A 2.0L turbo with 218 hp and 325 Nm, a 1.5L turbo with 181 hp and 290 Nm, and two hybrid/plug-in hybrid powertrains with 1.5L turbo +3DHT HEV and 1.5L turbo +3DHT PHEV will be available.
The 2.0L turbo and 1.5L turbo engines are mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission, while the hybrids use Geely’s DHT three-speed hybrid electric drive transmission.
The all-new Geely Boyue L will be available in China in the fourth quarter of 2022, with official pricing yet to be announced. The vehicle is expected to make its public debut at the 2022 Chengdu Auto Show, which opens on August 26th, 2022.
