Huawei has finally put an end to months of speculation by officially announcing the Mate 70 series. We can expect these phones to hit store shelves between October and December of this year.
This confirmation comes directly from Huawei’s Consumer Business Chairman, Yu Chengdong.
Mate 70 Series
He also revealed an important detail: the Mate 70 series will be the first to be pre-loaded with the stable version of Huawei’s operating system, HarmonyOS NEXT.
The brand-new HarmonyOS NEXT operating system from Huawei was revealed at the HDC Developer Conference.
HarmonyOS NEXT
The fact that HarmonyOS NEXT is totally separate from the Android operating system seen in earlier Huawei phones signifies a dramatic change.
This implies that Android apps cannot be installed or used on HarmonyOS NEXT devices. The stable version of HarmonyOS NEXT will be released first for the forthcoming Mate 70 series.
Huawei is anticipated to expand the list of devices on which the new OS is accessible after its launch.
HarmonyOS beta testing has already begun, and devices from Huawei, including the Mate 60 series, are part of the initiative.
All Mate 70 Variants
Leaks, however, indicate that the Pro model might stick with the prior phones’ triple front camera layout. It’s unknown if all Mate 70 variants will feature this design.
For comparison, the Mate 60 Pro boasts a front camera system with a 13MP ultrawide lens. Additional sensors and lasers for safe face unlock, and a 3D sensor for depth awareness.
It’s expected that the Mate 70 Pro will make use of the same front-facing technology.
Leaks also reveal possible camera improvements for the Mate 70 series, in addition to the front camera design.
Omnivision’s Next-gen Sensors
It’s possible that Omnivision’s next-generation sensors will be used in the new phones to capture even better images and movies.
Furthermore, the most potent model in the list might have a special retractable lens, such to the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra.
